Depth of Field
This is the link to a definition of 'Depth of Field', this link really did help my understanding of 'Depth of Field' and helped my photography knowledge as a whole.
This particular photo has a short depth of field the closest object ( The Queen ) is close to the longest point in the picture but miles away in real life.
Factual
This is in one of the books about Annie Leibovitz and one of her many famous photos.
Context
The photographer has really made The Queen stand out in this picture, I believe she has dimmed the background down in the editing process to make The Queen stand out and look really bold.
Technical
I believe this photo was taken in a park in London close to sunset in bad whether conditions to make the clouds dimmer without editing.
Aesthetics
Personally I really like the fact The Queen stands out in this picture, for some reason it reminds me of an advert for something like downtown abbey.

Lighting
Link for a definition of lighting
I chose this particular image to use for the lighting part of assignment three because it's a very bright photo but because of the opposite colours the boxing glove and boxing shorts stick out and I think that Vee Speers has chose black and white for that exact reason.
Fact
This photo is in Vee Speers' very famous 'The birthday party' series.
Context
The photographer has positioned the boy in the centre of the photo to catch the viewers attention but the boxing glove and shorts caught my attention because they stand out more because they're the complete opposite colour to the rest of the picture.
Technical
I believe this photo wast taken in front of a white wall and a light shining down on the boy who is the star of this particular photo.
Aesthetics
Personally I like the fact this is a very plain and simple photo but still very eye catching.
Focal Point
Definition of Focal Point
The focal point of this particular photo is the man and his dog, this is shown by most of the photo being blurred apart from the focal point, in this case the man and his dog.
Factual
The photographer of this photo is Vee Speers and this particular photo is named Avril.
Context
The photographer has positioned the people in his picture in the middle to catch the viewers eye
Technical
I believe his photo was taken in a old fashioned street and edited black and white afterwards
Aesthetics
I like the fact Vee Speers has used a man and his dog as the focal point, proving a dog is really a mans best friend

Vee Speers
Composition
This is a link that explained to me what 'Compostion' meant, it really helped with my understanding of the photography language.
This photo shows a good example of composition, it really focuses on the man and the two woman, Vee Speers has purposely position the three people in the middle of the photo so that they catch the viewers eye and nothing else.
"The twighlight of Vee Speers’ great photos of beautiful women causes the viewer to merge with the surroundings of the image and enter a kind of dream-like vision of an often sordid reality. Shapes lose definition and imagination overweighs perception. Real life is left behind… the boundaries between subject and photographer become more and more indistinct."

Fact
This photo is part of Vee Speers' bordello series.
Context
This is one of the photos taken by Vee Speers which is used in his bordello series.
Technical
I think this photo was taken in bar with normal lighting but then Vee Speers edited the photo and changed the contrast to something more suitable.
Aesthetic
I really like the colors of this photo because it's not bursting with vibrant colors, it's simple, it's black and white with a yellow tint.

First analysis
Vee Speers
Vee Speers is a very famous photograpther who was born in 1962.
This particular photo is very similar but very different to most of his work. The similarity is the way the woman is posed, she is very seductive and showing alot of her body. The difference though is the colour, most of his work is very light and shows colour yet this particular piece is dark and depressing, personally I believe she is nearly naked to show that society has stripped her to her bare bones and taken everything away frokm her, but that's just my opinion.
The backround is very intresting because it looks like it was taken infront of the wallpaper shown in the picture and the dark shading and black and white effect was implimented later in the editing process.
I like this picture because it stands out from the rest of his work, it was the first thing my eye was drawn to, it was a dark depressing photo surronded by light and happy pictures
